The word "Ceili" refers to an Irish social dance event with set dancing, ceili dancing, or both and possibly other types of dances such as the waltz and polkas. Originally, a Ceili was an informal gathering among friends and family where dancing, storytelling, singing and socializing took place. In this way, the history and values of a community were passed on from generation to generation. Today, our teachers continue to keep this tradition alive. |
